Luxury real estate developer Shang Properties incorporates environmental preservation into its development approach, making concerted efforts to ensure that the company’s growth aligns with practices that reflect a strong commitment to the environment.
With the launch of Shang Bauhinia Residences, its first residential project in Cebu City, Shang Properties continues to recognize Cebu’s importance in its growth and demonstrates its commitment to community development through proactive environmental initiatives.
Shang Properties, in partnership with Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office, the city’s environmental management and protection agency and through its subsidiary Shang Properties Realty Corp., conducted a tree planting activity last Nov. 16, 2024.
The initiative achieved the successful planting of 4,846 mangrove propagules along the South Road Properties (SRP) coastline, also known as the South Reclamation Project. This 740-acre reclamation area is recognized as crucial for coastal defense, as mangroves act as natural barriers against waves, storms, and erosion while mitigating the risk of flooding.
Shang Properties had already undertaken earlier tree-planting activities as part of its broader reforestation efforts. On Oct. 26, 2024, Shang Properties employees planted 4,930 mangrove propagules, marking the start of their dedication to restoring Cebu’s coastal environment. This was followed by the planting of 450 native samplings on Nov. 9, 2024. These efforts have increased the total number of trees planted to 10,226, with the goal of planting 24,887 trees.
As Shang Properties continues to make its mark in Cebu City, the company is steadfast in creating developments that go beyond providing premium living spaces. By integrating sustainability into its operations and leading programs that protect and restore the environment, Shang Properties aims to continue supporting the city’s long-term growth and resilience. Through projects like the mangrove planting program, Shang Properties strengthens its connection with the Cebuanos and sets a standard for responsible urban development.
